MONTLUCON, France (July 6)—Dunlop France plans to reorganize its Montlucon plant to specialize in motorcycle and light truck tires. The shift, prompted in part by current overcapacity and falling European tire prices, would make the Montlucon site the sole European producer of motorcycle tires, the tire maker said. Production of medium and heavy truck and agricultural tires would be taken up at other specialized sites throughout Europe. The reorganization would cut about 400 jobs at the 1,200-employee facility by summer 2001, Dunlop France said. Initiatives, including the creation of "several hundred" jobs at the firm´s Amiens, France, site are under way to offset the reductions, however.
