MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (July 5)—Uniroyal Chemical, a Crompton Corp. business unit, has expanded its TDI (toulene diisocyanate) urethane prepolymer operation to Italy to give its global customers greater options. The company has built a Adiprene low-free TDI plant, its first outside of the U.S., in Latina, Italy, for an undisclosed amount, a spokeswoman said, noting that the site represents a multimillion dollar investment that gives customers an alternative to conventional urethane prepolymers with higher free TDI content. Uniroyal Chemical operates two similar plants in Gastonia, N.C. The company will provide customers with environmentally focused products backed by strong technical service support at the site, according to Chester A. Zawacki, worldwide marketing manager for Adiprene urethane prepolymers.
