ESSEX, England (June 28)—Synthomer Ltd., a subsidiary of Yule Catto & Co. P.L.C., will build a synthetic latex plant in Malaysia for about $37.8 million to meet the expanding demand for speciality latex in Southeast Asia, primarily in the glove dipping industry, and initially give the firm an additional 88 million pounds of capacity. The company hopes to complete construction of the site in late 2001 and begin production in January 2002, a spokesman said. It will be located next to an established Yule Catto factory in Kluang. The facility will be supported by an existing Synthomer sales office in the country.
