CHICAGO (June 28)—Teknor Apex Co. has begun construction of a thermoplastic elastomer mixing facility at its Henderson, Ky., manufacturing complex. The company said the 44,000-sq.-ft. plant will start up with two twin-screw compounding lines in the third quarter of next year. Increasing demand in the automotive, medical, wire and cable, consumer products and other markets sparked the expansion. The firm, which announced the project at the National Plastics Exhibition in Chicago, didn´t provide the cost of the expansion.
