FRANKFURT, Germany (June 26)—The Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association of VDMA is predicting 10 percent growth this year in the German plastics and rubber machinery industry, following a 3.6-percent drop in 1999. Orders in the first quarter of 2000 skyrocketed 35 percent, prompting the association to double its original growth forecast from 5 percent. The group attributed to the growth to a positive investment climate, indispensable nature of plastics and the growth of world consumption because of new dynamic areas of application.
