AKRON (June 26) — A hacker "hijacked" Goodyear´s corporate web site in the early hours of June 24, posting a profanity-laced message that questioned the quality of Goodyear tires and mocked the web site´s security. The message included a picture of a wrecked car with the caption "The result of Goodyear tyres," and was posted for only a few hours before Goodyear web site security discovered the intrusion and took the site off-line, a Goodyear spokesman said. The company kept the site—www.goodyear.com—off-line for much of Saturday while it was cleansed of the foreign material and new security "fire walls" were installed. Goodyear is working with law enforcement agencies to find the intruder, identified in the message as "p1mp (\0rd)." The hacker also attacked several Goodyear subsidiary sites overseas.
