SCHKOPAU, Germany (June 26)—Dow Chemical Co. has completed a 60,000 metric ton solution elastomer facility at its complex in Schkopau. The company said the unit will produce solution styrene-butadiene rubber for use in low-rolling resistance tiers, and lithium low-cis butadiene rubber and styrene-butadiene block copolymers, used as polymer modifiers. The plant is based on Nippon Zeon Ltd. technology, and in located next to an emulsion-SBR and nickel high-cis BR plant.
