MEDICINE HAT, Canada (June 20)—Thermal carbon black producer Cancarb Ltd. has completed the $18.5 million expansion at its Medicine Hat plant, giving it capacity of about 100 million pounds annually. It needed the additional capacity because its markets and product demand have increased since its last expansion in 1996, a spokesman said. "This expansion is a direct result of our efforts to develop new applications for thermal carbon black and of strong economic growth," President Bob Hale said. "Customers are finding new ways to use thermal black to add value to their products." The company expects to add another 15 to its work force of 65.
