MILAN, Italy (June 19)—Pirelli S.p.A. is planning an official opening of the first of five tire plants using the company´s new flexible manufacturing process, the Modular Integrated Robotized System. Pirelli said it will have an official presentation and factory demonstration July 11 at its new "e-factory" in Milan, near the firm´s worldwide headquarters. The robotized MIRS process covers the entire production cycle and reduces tire processing steps from the traditional 14 to three, the company said.
