BEDFORD, Va. (June 12)—Members of United Steelworkers Local 240, on strike for nine months at Rubatex Corp.´s Bedford foam rubber plant, made an unconditional offer to return to their jobs June 9. Rubatex chief negotiator Jim Laurin said all the strikers who want to return will be taken back. Rubatex is negotiating with the union on a timetable for the return to work, he said. The company has been using replacement workers at the facility, where Local 240´s 411 members walked out Sept. 12, 1999.
