WHIPPANY, N.J. (June 9)—Playtex Inc. is voluntarily recalling about 1.8 million pacifiers after it was found that the latex used in the products was aging more quickly than usual. ``This might cause the nipple to weaken and become dry or cracked or potentially detach from the shield, presenting a possible choking hazard to young children,´´ Playtex said. The recall affects latex versions of the Playtex Classic Patterns and Playtex Soft Comfort lines. Other Playtex pacifiers—Binky Firm Comfort, Binky Gel Filled or Safe ´N Sure Silicone—are not affected, the company said.
