DES MOINES, Iowa (June 8)—Titan International Inc. was fined $500 June 6 by an Iowa District Court judge for refusing to allow Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors inside its Des Moines tire plant on June 1 to investigate a claim. The inspectors had a warrant to enter the facility at the time of the refusal. Titan was found in contempt for denying entrance to OSHA inspectors in 1999 as well. The company appealed that case to the Iowa Supreme Court, which has not yet made a ruling.
