MILAN, Italy (May 23)—Manuli Rubber Industries S.p.A. has started construction of a second plant in Poland for hose assemblies, adjacent to its Manuli Auto Polska hydraulic hose plant in Tychy, Poland, that just went on stream. The new $15 million facility should be on stream by November, the company said. Additionally, Manuli consolidated production in Latin America at Manuli Auto do Brazil´s facilities in Curitaba, Brazil, closing a small operation in Argentina in the process. For the first quarter of 2000, Manuli Rubber reported a 20-percent rise in pre-tax earnings to $8.5 million and a 14-percent increase in sales to $82.8 million.
