GREENSVILLE, S.C. (May 23)—Groupe Michelin has completed its first sets of full-scale Formula One track tests at BMW A.G.´s Miramas facility in the South of France. The tests were conducted in preparation for the tire maker´s 2001 entry into F1 racing and included two four-day sessions in April and May, Michelin said. Tom Kristensen, of Denmark, drove a BMW-engined Williams FW21B fitted with Michelin development tires for the tests. Michelin engineers are ``extremely pleased with the positive progress´´ of the tests, Michelin reported, although they pointed out that no direct comparison of results and current F1 lap times can be made.
