LEICESTER, England (May 22)—Hungarian engine maker RABA-Detroit Diesel has awarded Trelleborg Industrial AVS (formerly BTR Metalastik) a contract for supply of elastomeric engine mounts for buses. The year-long contract will involve supply of four sandwich mounts per engine to some 160 diesel-engine Ikarus buses to be built during this period. The mounts are metal/elastomer assemblies, described in a Trelleborg statement as robust, low-profile constructions, specially developed for heavy duty uses. They protect the diesel engine and adjacent equipment from vibration and also reduce structure-borne noise, contributing to a quieter more comfortable ride, Trelleborg said.
