NEW YORK (May 19)—AWC, a division of Irving R. Boody & Co. Ltd., preserves continuity with its former incarnation as Andrew Weir Commodities, according to AWC Vice President Gary Karpinski. "We´re in a good position because of our name," Karpinski said. Boody re-entered the rubber trade, a business it had left some years earlier, by purchasing Andrew Weir last October; Niels Jacobsen, former Andrew Weir president, served as VP of AWC until January, when he left to join the new Rubber Division of Balmac International Inc. Karpinski moved up to VP of AWC; Wendy Baxter, formerly of Lewis & Peat Rubber L.P., is chief trader; and Bob Cross, a 35-year veteran of Weir, is a full-time consultant and advisor working from his home in Florida.
