TRELLEBORG, Sweden (May 5)—Trelleborg AB has bid $423 million for all the shares in Danish roofing products maker Icopal A/S, which had 1999 sales of around $715 million. About 80 percent of Icopal´s sales are from roofing products, primarily felts. Icopal, which also supplies road surfacing, plastics foils and plastics tubes, employs around 4,000 in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdon, Germany, Belgium, France, Poland, the Czech Republic and the U.S. With the deal, which is subject to Trelleborg´s gaining 90 percent of shares and regulatory approvals, the main office for Trelleborg Building Systems will be located in the Copenhagen area, the Swedish group said.
