SYRACUSE, N.Y. (April 19)—Carlisle Cos. Inc. reported net earnings of $25.5 million on sales of $434 million for the quarter ended March 31, both records for the first three months of any year. The sales figure was a record for any quarter. Net profits and sales jumped 16.7 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively, over the first quarter of 1999. Diluted earnings per share improved to 84 cents from 71 cents last year.
