TOKYO (April 18)—Bridgestone Corp. and Topy Industries have developed a prototype car wheel that contains a layer of rubber between the wheel´s rim and disk. The layer helps provide a quieter ride and improves vehicle handling because the rubber absorbs vibration that normally is transmitted to passengers in standard configurations where the rim and wheel are welded together, according to Bridgestone.
