BANGKOK, Thailand (April 11)—Michelin Siam Group Co. Ltd. will invest nearly $100 million in the coming year to more than double capacity for car and light truck tires at its Laem Chabang, Thailand, plant. The expansion will serve initially to satisfy growing local demand for high-performance tires and later to broaden the company´s export offerings, according to Chalaluck Bunnag, president of Siam Tyre P.L.C., Groupe Michelin´s minority partner in Michelin Siam Group. The expansion will push capacity to 6.1 million tires a year from 2.9 million and create 600 new jobs, the companies said.
