RAPALLO, Italy (April 3)—Marangoni S.p.A. is evaluating sites in southern Italy and central Europe for a new $200 million car and light truck tire factory. The plant, which would be Marangoni´s second tire factory, should be operational by 2002 with annual capacity of 4.5 million units, according to Andrea Vassura, head of Marangoni´s tire division. Selecting a site in southern Italy would bring substantial incentives from the Italian government, Vassura said, whereas sites in central European would offer relatively low labor costs.
