RAPALLO, Italy (April 3)—Marangoni S.p.A. will begin selling passenger tires in North America in the coming year, and will begin recruiting distributors in California and New England in the coming months to help it launch the brand. Marangoni expects to sell between 150,000 and 200,000 car tires in the U.S. in 2001, according to Andrea Vassura, head of Marangoni´s tire division. The company expects to recruit five distributors this year to cover the targeted West Coast and New England marketplaces, Vassura said. The ideal candidate dealerships operate between 20 and 50 stores in areas where customers use either high-performance or winter tires, and who want to offer a high-performance, prestigious European brand.
