DETROIT, (March 28)—Following on the heels of the vehicle manufacturing industry, suppliers to the heavy-duty truck market are setting up sites to handle electronic business in the industry. Truck parts maker Paccar Inc. said it will team up with Commerce One, a technical player in the North American vehicle manufacturers´ joint trade exchange, to form Truckxchange.com. The site aims to facilitate transactions estimated at $450 billion annually for the commercial vehicle industry. Troy, Mich.-based Meritor Automotive last week announced the formation of FleetWorks.com, a joint exchange with California venture capital firm Accel Partners and technical provider Gen3 Partners to serve the estimated $25 billion U.S. market for commercial truck replacement parts.
