MIDLAND, Mich. (March 27)—Dow Chemical Co. will purchase General Latex and Chemical Corp. to strengthen its global polyurethanes business. General Latex is a large North American polyurethane systems supplier and a leading producer of custom compounds produced from natural and synthetic latex, a spokesman said. The firm also is a leader in rigid polyurethane foam formulations, he said. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. With annual sales of more than $100 million, Cambridge, Mass.-based General Latex operates six manufacturing sites.
