CARY, N.C. (March 27)—Lord Corp.´s Mechanical Products Division is expanding its global reach with the construction of a new rubber-to-metal bonding plant in China. The $7 million, 49,000-sq.-ft. facility marks Lord´s entry into China and is part of a series of moves—including the recent acquisition of Metal Gomma S.p.A. and expansion of its Dayton, Ohio, aerospace and rubber-to-metal bonding plant—aimed at boosting Lord´s worldwide manufacturing capacity, a company spokesman said. The operation in China will be called Lord Mechanical (Shanghai) Company Ltd. and offer complete rubber-to-metal manufacturing to customers, he said.
