PITTSBURGH (Feb. 29)—The European Commission has announced no objection to the Bayer Group´s proposed acquisition of Lyondell Chemical Co.´s polyols business. The $2.45 billion purchase of Lyondell´s global polyols operations, announced November 1999, would make Bayer the world´s leading manufacturer of polyurethane raw materials. The EC´s approval follows that of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission earlier this year.
