AKRON (Feb. 17)—Goodyear had disappointing income figures for 1999 as was expected, the company reported Feb. 9. The tire maker had net income of $40.8 million in the fourth quarter, a 66.4-percent decrease from the $121.5 million reported in 1998´s like period. Net income for the year was $241.1 million, a 64.7-percent drop from the $682.3 million earned in 1998. Fourth-quarter global sales were $3.5 billion, up 10.9 percent from $3.2 billion in 1998. For the year, sales were $12.9 billion, a 2-percent increase over the $12.6 billion posted in 1998.
