WASHINGTON (Feb. 8)—U.S. total tire shipments rose 6.1 percent in November 1999 compared to the year-earlier month, led by strong growth in the light and medium truck sectors. For the 11-month period, U.S. shipments rose 4.4 percent compared to 1998. Canadian replacement tire shipments rose 5.9 percent in November with truck/bus tires posting an 18.8-percent surge. For the year-to-date, total Canadian tire shipments jumped 6.6 percent.
