CHESHIRE, England (Feb. 8)—SSL International P.L.C. is exiting the examination glove business because the product line has limited premium-price market opportunities, according to the company. The medical and personal care product maker, in the midst of manufacturing expansion projects in Thailand and Malaysia and a cost-cutting program throughout much of the rest of its global operation, is closing its examination glove factory in Alabama and moving the plant´s equipment to its surgical glove operation in Malaysia. Because SSL´s surgical glove, dental glove, Durex condom and industrial glove lines are all doing well, a spokeswoman said, the company will concentrate on those products and other health care goods in the future.
