CUMBERLAND, Md. (Jan. 27)—Lee Fiedler, retired president of Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., will run for mayor of Cumberland as he announced tentatively last year. Current Mayor Edward Athey, himself a Kelly-Springfield retiree, has decided against a sixth two-year term, Fiedler said. Fiedler´s strategic plan, released in early January, calls for a four-pronged platform of "economic development, getting people downtown, keeping government services and strengthening neighborhoods," he added. Goodyear, Kelly-Springfield´s parent firm, is closing down Kelly´s Cumberland operations and consolidating them into Goodyear headquarters in Akron.
