PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (Jan. 11)—What a difference a year makes. Michelin North America Inc.´s tire supply rate hit rock bottom in 1998 and hung like a black cloud over last January´s Michelin Americas Small Tires Sales and Dealer Conference. When the company opened its 2000 MAST meeting, held Jan. 9-13 at Paradise Island, Michelin had not only stopped its fill rate slide but vaulted to the top of the industry in customer supply. Its rate is expected to be in the 90-percent range for 1999 compared to 78 percent a year earlier, said Scott Clark, MAST vice president of marketing.
