BEDFORD, Va. (Jan. 11)—Rubatex Corp. plans to hire a full replacement work force for its Bedford foam rubber plant by the early to mid-second quarter if a strike with the United Steelworkers isn´t settled. The company wants to have a work force in the 200- to 225-employee range at the facility, about half of the total number of members of USWA Local 240, which went on strike Sept. 12. The 425 members walked out primarily over mandatory overtime and retiree health care benefits.
