BRUSSELS, Belgium (Jan 6)—The European Commission has given the green light to the acquisition of the Acordis industrial fibers business from the Dutch chemicals company Akzo Nobel B.V. by the British investment firm CVC Capital Investments. CVC is not represented in the industrial fibers or related markets, so the operation will not have a dominant position in any European market, according to the EC decision. Acordis makes polyester, rayon and aramid yarn for tire and rubber product reinforcements.
