BIRMINGHAM, England (Jan. 6)—Goodyear Dunlop Tires Europe B.V. plans to phase out truck tire production this year at its Dunlop Tyres UK tire plant in Birmingham, costing 650 workers their jobs. Production of passenger, light truck, motorcycle and racing tires will continue at the 84-year-old facility, which employs 1,700, the company said. The move will eliminate annual capacity at the plant for 400,000 medium truck tires, although a company spokesman said the lost production would be taken up by other Goodyear-Dunlop sites in Europe.
