WEST PATTERSON, N.J.-Cytec Industries Inc. has established an Asian regional office in the Singapore branch of Cytec Hong Kong Ltd. The headquarters will handle sales and marketing for that region, the firm said. Previously, these duties were handled by Cytec's U.S. office.
The company did not reveal the cost of the project or the number of workers it will employ at the site.
Cytec will market and sell chemical technologies and specialty chemicals and materials-including melamine-based adhesion promoters for the tire industry-from the office.
``This move will allow us to better service the region's customers and develop a deeper understanding of both current and future business opportunities,'' said Charles C. Corcoran, president of Cytec Hong Kong and vice president, Asia/Pacific, Cytec Industries.
``Cytec is committed to being a global organization and we intend to strengthen and expand our presence in the Asia/Pacific chemical market,'' Corcoran said.
The firm also has offices and operations in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia.
In addition, Mitsui-Cytec Ltd., a Japan-based joint venture involving Cytec and Mitsui-Toatsu Chemicals, started up a 10,000-metric-ton-a-year facility dedicated to producing melamine-based coating resins.
