Uzer Makina purchases Uzun Hidrolik to boost its offerings

KOCAELI, Turkey—Tıre curing equipment supplier Uzer Makina has acquired Uzun Hidrolik in a vertical integration move that the Kocaeli-based firm said will diversify its offerings.

Uzun Hidrolik, based in Istanbul, Turkey, is a producer of hydraulic products that serve a range of heavy industries, including energy, harbor and mining. Uzer Makina and Uzun Hidrolik have worked together for more than two decades, so this is the next logical step in their partnership, Uzer said in a news release.

Terms of the recently completed deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will enable Uzer Makina to broaden its revenue streams because Uzun Hidrolik has a broad base of expertise, including the production of client-based designed products and functioning as a research and development center, according to Pelin Ozkan, who is responsible for Uzer's marketing and business development. She added that with Uzun Hydrolik's capabilities, Uzer Makina will be able to expand into other tire manufacturing processes as well as other heavy industries.

"With the addition of Uzun Hidrolik's products and services to their portfolio, Uzer Makina aims to leverage their expertise to become a major player in the hydraulic products market," Ozkan said. "The integration of Uzun Hidrolik's capabilities is expected to result in a stronger and more competitive company, which will be able to provide a wider range of innovative solutions to its customers."

Uzer Makina said the deal highlights the value of long-term partnerships in manufacturing, as the combined firm will be able to deliver even more value to its customers.

In addition, by acquiring one of its key suppliers in the vertical integration move, Uzer said it expects to cut prices and have shorter lead times.

"By having more control over the cost of hydraulic products, Uzer Makina will be able to pass on cost savings to its customers," Ozkan said. "Additionally, Uzer Makina will be able to better manage its supply chain, resulting in a more efficient production process and faster delivery times."
