TRELLEBORG, Sweden—Trelleborg A.B. has confirmed that the group is in talks with parties that have shown interest in acquiring its Trelleborg Wheel Systems (TWS) wheel and tire business.
"Discussions at an early stage are ongoing with external parties," Trelleborg said in response to recent media reports, which it described as "speculations and rumors."
In December, the group rebuffed a report that suggested the company was in talks with Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. for the wheel and tire business.
Trelleborg did not state whether Yokohama is one of the parties with which it is currently in talks.
"Should the discussions advance and develop into a situation where additional information is relevant, this will be communicated," the group added in a release issued Dec. 27.
Along with Trelleborg Industrial Solutions and Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, TWS is one of three business areas within the Trelleborg Group, which has annual sales of about $3.6 billion.
