In a tape-making deal, Sur-Seal Corp. is acquiring Ameritape, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based maker of products for the aerospace industry.
"Ameritape's capabilities and focus on aerospace applications are a great complement to Sur-Seal's existing business. The combined engineering capabilities, materials expertise and manufacturing excellence will allow both companies to provide their existing and new customers with a more comprehensive solutions offering," said James Sidwa of Heartwood Partners, Cincinnati-based Sur-Seal's primary investor.
The Jacksonville site joins Sur-Seal locations in Cincinnati and Harrison, Ohio; San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico; Suzhou, China; Charlotte, N.C.; and Dover, N.H.
The new location specializes in custom die cutting, slitting, laminating and CNC cutting, Sur-Seal said.
"The acquisition of Ameritape expands Sur-Seal's engineering capabilities, including performance materials expertise and enhanced manufacturing techniques," Sur-Seal said in a statement, adding the acquisition expands customer relations in the South.
"Their similar end market exposure and competitive positioning to Sur-Seal means that the Ameritape team will be able to partner fluidly with Sur-Seal to provide customers with sophisticated engineering solutions. We value Ameritape's aerospace expertise and look forward to combining our capabilities for a comprehensive offering," Sur-Seal CEO Dana Waterman said in a statement.
Sur-Seal makes a wide variety of products aside from tapes, including seals, gaskets, die-cut plastics, tubing, specialty foams, silicone pads, weatherstripping, cushioning foams and pads.
