VIENNA—Semperit A.G. Holding has exited the medical business with the completion of the sale of its remaining surgical gloves operations to Southeast Asian gloves manufacturer Harps Global Pte. Ltd.
Semperit sold the majority of its Sempermed business to Harps in late 2022 with the provision to sell its surgical gloves in Wimpassing, Austria, and other packaging operations in Sopron, Hungary, within five years.
The remaining operations have since been providing contract manufacturing services to Harps.
Semperit said July 1 that it had now "placed the remaining part in the hands of the new, responsible owner early and terminated the contract manufacturing."
With the exit from the glove business, the group will be "concentrating 100 percent" on implementing its growth strategy focused on "elastomer products for industry," said Semperit CEO Karl Haider.
The second and final closing of the sale of the medical business took place with effect from June 30, at a value of $7.5 million (€7 million), according to Semperit.
