BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Maintenance and repair parts distributor Motion Industries Inc. has agreed to purchase Lubbock, Texas-based M.B. McKee Co. Inc. in the Alabama company's second acquisition in as many months.
Financial details of the deal, which is set to close by the end of January 2025, have not been disclosed.
Motion President James Howe called M.B. McKee "a perfect strategic fit" for Motion in a Jan. 13 statement. Headquartered in Lubbock, the family-owned business has locations in Amarillo and Hereford, giving it a strong presence throughout northern Texas.
"The complementary product offering and customer-centric approach (of M.B. McKee) will supplement and extend our presence and scale in the region," Howe said. "We are thrilled to welcome the talented M.B. McKee team to Motion and look forward to their contributions in upcoming years."
M.B. McKee distributes belts, conveyor systems, power transmission components and other parts across Texas, officials said. In addition to growing its geographical reach, the deal will allow Motion to expand its product portfolio and end market options.
Motion officials said that current M.B. McKee Majority Owner and President Cindy Cole will remain with the business after the sale closes. Her husband Kirk Cole, currently vice president of sales, and her brother Mark McKee, currently vice president and partial owner, will also remain on board.
"This is a tremendous opportunity," Cindy Cole said, "and we look forward to bringing customers an expanded product and service offering while supporting Motion's growth initiatives. We are very pleased to join forces with this global industrial leader."
