Molded Dimensions expands with injection molding deal

FIFE, Wash.—Molded Dimensions L.L.C. is acquiring GlobalTech Plastics L.L.C. in an injection molding deal.

GlobalTech, based in Fife, makes highly engineered injection molded plastic parts for the medical, transportation and electronic closures segments

For Molded Dimensions, which makes precision rubber, urethane and plastic components, the acquisition "adds plastic expertise ... and expands the company's customer base and capabilities," according to ShoreView Industries, a Minneapolis-based private investment firm that owns Molded Dimensions of Port Washington, Wis.

"ShoreView and Molded Dimensions continue to seek additional add-on opportunities," the investment firm said in announcing the latest acquisition.

ShoreView previously invested in thermoformer Rohrer Corp. and sold that stake in March 2021 after 11 years.

This latest deal follows a move late last year by Molded Dimensions to acquire PCO Urethane of Marshfield, Wis. PCO Urethane makes custom polyurethane parts for the agriculture, mining and manufacturing sectors.

GlobalTech, founded in 2003, operates out of a 43,000-sq.-ft. facility in Fife that includes 13 Nissei injection molding machines ranging from 88-1,200 tons of clamping force. The company's secondary operations and assembly capabilities also include a clean room, laser cutting and engraving, ultrasonic welding, and printing. GlobalTech also has assembly stations with custom support equipment as well as kitting capabilities, according to the company's website.

A 2019 Plastics News story featuring GlobalTech indicated the firm had room in its Washington facility for additional injection molding machines.
