Mearthane acquires Precision Elastomers, partners with Compass Group

CRANSTON, R.I.—Mearthane Products Corp. (MPC) has acquired Precision Elastomers Inc. (PEI), adding Precision’s custom thermoset polyurethane and silicone components to MPC’s portfolio of advanced PU products.

And hot on the heels of this acquisition, the company also announced a new strategic alliance with Compass Group Equity Partners on Jan. 11. 

MRC, which develops and manufactures bespoke polymer products with a focus on thermoset polyurethane elastomers for use in high-performance applications, provides precision PU technology solutions to a broad blue-chip customer base across a number of end markets. It has over 55 years of experience in PU formulation and processing. 

PEI specializes in custom-molded PU and silicone products for manufacturing sectors including semiconductors, robotics and medical devices. The business will remain in its current location in Ipswich, Mass.

In addition, the PEI portfolio introduces MPC to new customers in high growth applications who will benefit from our expertise and broad technologies.”

The purchase marks Mearthane's sixth acquisition since 2017. It bought Polyurethane Molding Industries of Woonsocket, R.I., in 2020; Morris & Broms LLC of Cranston in 2019; Creative Urethanes and Rhode Island Water Jet LLC in 2018 and Elmco Tool Inc. in 2017.

As for MPC's partnership with Compass Group, Kaczmarek said the team is “excited to partner with Compass Group for the next phase of our growth and diversification strategy.
