Huntington Solutions makes custom shape-molded and fabricated foam, with sites in South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and Mexico in addition to its new Texas facility.

GREER, S.C.—Foam packaging maker Huntington Solutions is expanding to a seventh location, this time in Texas.

The Greer-based company has acquired Texas Foam of Bastrop a move that will expand Huntington's manufacturing of temperature-sensitive packaging, the company said.

The deal comes as more and more products are sold via electronic commerce and shipped directly to homes.

"With the acquisition of Texas Foam, Huntington substantially increases and broadens its production capabilities in the fast-growing market that is temperature-sensitive packaging," Scott Martin, executive chairman of Huntington Solutions, said in a statement. "We view the transaction as highly complementary to both organizations, each of which will benefit from the sharing of technologies and implementation of operational best practices."

The new location joins existing sites in South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and Mexico, where there are two operations.

"Texas Foam offers a wide variety of impressive and proven cold-chain packaging technologies that will augment our ability to meet the needs of our customers," Huntington President Ed Flynn said in a statement. "Additionally, with a newfound presence in the Southwest, Texas Foam further expands Huntington's geographic footprint, allowing our offering to reach an entirely new cohort of customers."

Huntington Solutions, formerly known as Huntington Foam, has grown through a series of acquisitions since its own purchase by private equity firm Mill Point Capital in 2016.

At that time, the new investors signaled plans to expand the foam packaging company.

The latest addition makes expanded polystyrene packaging for the medical, instrumentation, pharmaceutical and food and beverage sectors. The company markets extended-duration shippers under the XDS brand.
