BONN, Germany—Holcim Solutions and Products Germany GmbH is seeking to buy Cooper Standard Technical Rubber GmbH, a filing with Germany's Bundeskartellamt competition authority shows.
The Holcim company, formerly Firestone Building Products Germany, is acquiring "shares in and control in" the Cooper Standard unit, according to the "ongoing merger control" details filed June 23.
Cooper Standard Technical Rubber of Edingen-Neckarhausen is stated to produce "road marking tapes, film products, rubber compounds for EPDM, aviation floors, natural rubber and silicone, nitrile (and) SBR."
Acquisition of the German firm is in line with an ambitious expansion strategy at Holcim Group, which achieved estimated global rubber products sales of about $2.2 billion in 2022.
Holcim says its construction materials and products division is on track to achieve sales of $4 billion by 2025.
This followed the Zug, Switzerland, company's $3.4 billion acquisition of Firestone Building Products from Bridgestone in 2021.
