MAMER, Luxembourg—Hitec Luxembourg S.A., a designer and manufacturer of set-, limited- and full-motion satellite antennae and associated components, has purchased a wet screening equipment line from Krahnen K.G., Cologne, Germany.
Hitec said this expansion to its testing equipment portfolio is "a perfect fit."
"After two years of commercial partnership with Krahnen, we found the wet screening devices a perfect fit for our current portfolio of testing equipment and we see potential synergies from which both Hitec and our customers can benefit," Andrea Mirandola, manager of rubber testing equipment at Hitec, said in a statement.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Krahnen produces industrial, liquid and safety vacuum cleaners, in both electric and compressed air driven models, as well as wet testing equipment for rubber, according to a Jan. 10 news release on the acquisition.
"We found a very good and competent buyer for our laboratory equipment product line who has been active in this market for over 30 years and has a strong after sales organization," Krahnen CEO Guido Garnies said in the release.
Though it had offered the equipment for the past two years through its commercial partnership with Krahnen, Hitec Luxembourg now officially takes over the MT1, A2000 and NDA Vacu lines. The move, according to Hitec Luxembourg, increases its ability to offer wet testing devices for carbon black, rubber fillers and pigments.
According to Krahnen, the sieve residue ultimately produced in wet testing equipment provides information about the contents of coarse, water-insoluble impurities or components, such as ceramic components, metals or highly compacted pigments.
A certain percentage of impurities is prescribed and analyzed to maintain the desired product quality, Krahnen said.
Krahnen said on its website that its testing equipment operates cleaner, safer and with great efficiency than its competitors.
Hitec Luxembourg offers technology solutions covering satellite ground segment technology; customer specific and standard equipment for testing and measuring of physical properties; engineering; consulting; software and ICT development and project management. Hitec Luxembourg serves private and public sectors.
"Hitec Luxembourg will continue to expand its testing equipment offer by leveraging its strong engineering capabilities and expertise both through strategic partnerships and in-house developments," said Philippe Osch, senior partner and CTO.
