VARESE, Italy—Continental A.G. has completed its purchase of Varese-based thermoplastic manufacturer Merlett Group, a move that helps to strengthen the hose business.
Financial details of the transaction have not been released.
In a news release, Conti said it signed the acquisition agreement with Merlett on July 1, and the relevant antitrust authorities have given unconditional approval to the deal.
"The acquisition will strengthen Continental's materials expertise beyond rubber and deepen its specialist knowledge about the design, processing and handling of thermoplastics for industrial hose solutions," Conti said. "This is especially important in offering an even more diversified product portfolio to our customers."
The addition of Merlett provides continental with a range of flexible hoses for the agriculture, construction, transportation and food industries.
Founded in 1952, Merlett is one of the leading manufacturers of flexible thermoplastic hose in Europe, Conti said.
