HERMES, France—French rubber and polymer parts manufacturer Borflex Group has acquired Bobet Group, an elastomer-coated fabrics producer also based in France.
Founded in 1937, Bobet manufactures rubberized doctor blade-coated fabrics, according to a May 25 Borflex news release.
With production facilities and headquarters in Grand-Quevilly, Normandy, the acquired business exports more than 55 percent of its products, Borflex said.
The acquisition, it stated, will enable the Hermes-based group to expand its product range and strengthen its position in international markets.
"Bobet will bring to Borflex its experience and competence in research and development and its international customer network," the statement added.
According to the company, the purchase is part of a growth strategy, which entails diversifying its product portfolio and expanding the customer base.
Borflex specializes in the design and manufacture of rubber, silicone, TPE and polyurethane parts, as well as composite-based products.
With annual sales of around $55 million, 30 percent from exports, the company supplies industries including railway, aerospace, hydroelectric, nuclear and shipbuilding.
Borflex employs 375 people across 10 manufacturing sites in France and one in Switzerland.
