VIENNA—Borealis has acquired a controlling stake in South Korean compounder DYM Solution Co. Ltd.
With the acquisition of Cheonan-based DYM, Borealis has strengthened its position in the global wire and cable market, according to its Aug. 31 statement.
With headquarters near Seoul, South Korea, DYM Solution has three compounding sites across the country, including a "smart" automated factory and dedicated R&D facilities.
The South Korean compounder specializes in semi-conductive, halogen-free flame retardant, rubber and silane-cured compounds.
DYM's products and technologies for semi-conductive, flame retardant, rubber and silane cross-linkable compounds are complementary to its portfolio, Borealis said.
"Decarbonization of the energy sector is creating substantial growth opportunities for the global wire and cable industry," said Lucrece Foufopoulos, Borealis executive VP polyolefins, innovation and circular economy solutions.
