AKRON (March 10, 2008) -- Vac-u-max Co. has introduced the Tube Hopper, a nonmechanical vacuum conveying system to reload refill hoppers for gravimetric and volumetric feeds with additive flaked and powdered polymer. The Tube Hopper is a straight walled vacuum receiver with a full opening discharge valve that prevents the material from bridging and rat holing in the hopper, the company said.

Bytewise product measures cured tire growth
AKRON (March 10, 2008) -- Bytewise Measurement Systems has released Bead-to-Bead, or B2B, a product to measure cured tire growth under high-speed test conditions. The system is noncontacting and has no moving parts. Software calipers measure the reduction in tread radius section width and growth as the test speed increases.
LMI releases EyeCon 2000 laser line sensor
AKRON (March 10, 2008) -- LMI Technologies Inc. has introduced the EyeCon 2000 laser line sensor for wide surface area measurement using a single Gigabit Ethernet connection. Designed for high frequency and accuracy measurement of mat surfaces and shiny black materials, the EyeCon 2000 also measures thickness and width and profiling component preparation stock material, according to LMI.

Athena adds alarm options
AKRON (March 10, 2008) -- Athena Controls Inc. has introduced two alarm options for their hot runner controls for injection molding. The 050 alarm option provides relay contacts for use with other related equipment. The 070 alarm option provides a visible light tower and audible alarm, which will light up and provide an audible sound when activated, the company said.
Engel offers liquid silicone micro molding system
AKRON (March 10, 2008) -- Engel North America has introduced a liquid silicone micro molding system, the Engel e-victory 80/30 US hybrid machine. The system offers the precision of an electric injection molding unit combined with a 12-millimeter, specially designed LSR screw and disc assembly, and the flexibility of a tiebarless clamp design, the firm said.

AKRON (Jan. 28, 2008) -- Huron Technologies Inc. has introduced a water-based mold release agent formulated for composite parts. Mold Release Coating 7569 has been tested and validated for use in molding aerospace components. Release Coating 7569 is a water-thin liquid and can be applied by spraying or wiping.
Grieve adds walk-in oven
AKRON (Jan. 28, 2008) -- Grieve Corp. has introduced a 500°F walk-in oven. The No. 808 is electrically heated and is used in the process of scrap recovery on photocopier rolls at the customer's facility. Features include 4-inch thick insulated walls, and a 16-gallon aluminized steel interior.

AKRON (Jan. 28, 2008) -- ExxonMobil Chemical Co. has added a design tool to its database of free online technical information. The "compression stress relaxation database" helps predict how Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanizates perform initially and at any time during the expected life of the part. The compression stress relaxation data is available at different temperatures for the TPV sealing grades.

AKRON (Jan. 28, 2008) -- Dassault Systemes Corp. has released Abaqus Version 6.7 Extended Functionality, a finite element analysis software suite from SIMULIA. New capabilities include native technology for multiphysics fluid-structure interaction, collaborative modeling capabilities, tools for managing material libraries and visualization capabilities for solid composites.

AKRON (Jan. 28, 2008) -- Dow Corning Corp. has introduced silane-based water repellent for treatment of porous construction materials. Dow Corning IE-6694 Water Repellent Emulsion can be incorporated into building materials, used as an ingredient in formulating paints and coatings, or used as a post-treatment application to improve product performance and durability.

The firm said its MEGUM 5382 offers high bond performance, low fuming, sweep resistance and throughput capability during injection molding. The adhesive is suited for automotive and industrial use, according to the firm.
