Plan to join the world’s tire manufacturers in September 2008 for a three-day tire manufacturing and technical conference and exhibition in Akron, Ohio (USA)

ITEC 2008, the International Tire Exhibition & Conference, will take place Sept. 16-18, 2008, at the John S. Knight Center in Akron, Ohio (USA), North America’s original home for tire research, development and manufacturing.

ITEC is one of the world’s largest shows for tire manufacturers and suppliers. The 2008 event will have a decidedly international flavor.

Top executives from two of the world’s largest tire manufacturers are expected to deliver keynote addresses during the three-day technical event, while three international pavilions are being planned that will feature exhibitors from companies located in India, China and Viet Nam.

Two rubber industry experts, Mr. Sajen Peter, chairman of the India Rubber Board, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Mazhar Vhora, president of the All India Rubber Association, also will deliver presentations.

In addition, a special Forensic Workshop is planned that will look at tire failure/reliability and accident causation.

ITEC typically attracts 2,500 visitors from as many as 20 countries. Attendees include tire plant technical directors, plant managers, manufacturing managers, tire development personnel, tire compounders, chemists, chemical engineers, materials engineers, tire designers, tire performance engineers, quality assurance, tire testing, product analysis, product development, tire mold designers and others involved in the development, design and manufacturing of tires.

The three-day event features a trade show with more than 100 global exhibitors and plenty of opportunities to network with hundreds of tire industry professionals from around the world.

Papers for the technical program are still being selected but are likely to focus on such topics pertinent to attendees as:   Global raw materials cost issues, both short and long term;
  Types of tires and performance requirements the future market will demand;
  New machinery configuration to facilitate newer manufacturing techniques;
  Tire plant automation and energy constraints; and
  The challenge of global overcapacity.

Besides the 2,500 show attendees, ITEC 2008 will serve as host to several other tire industry events.

The Tire Society will hold its annual meeting and conference on science and technolgy concurrently with ITEC, on Sept. 15-16, 2008.

In addition, the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Akron will hold its Tire Mechanics Short Course during the week of ITEC.

ITEC’s low registration fees, coupled with favorable exchange rates, make attending the 2008 show especially reasonable for foreign attendees. Full conference registration is $550 (US) and includes a CD of all available papers presented at the show. Registration also includes admittance to all three days of exhibits, the opening networking cocktail party reception, complimentary lunches all three days and admittance to the global keynote addresses.

Daily conference registration is $250 (US) per day. There is no charge for tire manufacturers to visit the exhibit hall. For non-tire manufacturers, exhibit hall registration is $95 (US).
